I have never been to Nova Rock before or any foreign festivals before for that matter. I am travelling there from the UK via Amsterdam, Brussels, Germany etc and would like to know what I need to prep for.
What I would like to know is :

What is it like distance wise from any city that isn't Vienna as I don't think I can afford to stay there the night before.
What time does the festival open on the 14th.
What kind of time should I aim to be in Vienna by to get there at a reasonable time?
When will the festival close? Will we be kicked out on the Saturday or Sunday? What kind of time is this generally?
What are the camping sites like at Nova Rock.
Is there a "camp loner" for people on their own or is that risky?
What are thefts etc like generally (It wont put me off dont worry).
Is there much English in Vienna?
What are the cooking option on the campsites?
Are there "supermarkets" in Vienna that I can get my festivals worth of food and alcohol from.
Does anyone have a previous map of the festival?
What are the toilets like?
Are there showers available?
What is the weather generally like?
Are there lockers?
Can you get food on site? What is it like? How much does it cost?
How much in Euros do you generally take to get through the week?

If you are also arriving on the morning of the 14th, who wants to meet up for a in queue drinking meet up.

Thank you for any possible help, sorry if I am asking too much in one go I am new to travelling alone and new to Europe!

Campground opens at 06.00 AM

Depends. Train from Vienna Main Railway Station to Nickelsdorf takes you about 50 minutes, the shuttle from Nickelsdorf to the festival area about 10 minutes. The first band on the warmup day played at 16:00 last year.

Sunday, June 18th at 12:00

Any specific questions? The soil is usually very hard, so you will need a hammer to get the tent pegs in.
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:

Nothing official, but you've alread found the thread from the other people going alone
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:

No differences from other festivals
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:

You shouldn't have any problems getting through with English only
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:

There are none, because open fire, gas cookers, grills etc. are officially not allowed at the campsite. There are public grills at the main area you can use. You can also buy fresh meat there.
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:

Of course, and there is a festival supermarket at the campsite, where you can get beer for 1€/can for example
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:

Nova Rock Map 2016
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:
What are the toilets like?

Ordinary portable toilets at every campground. Some water flushed toilets at the "DUSCH & WC CAMP"
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:
Are there showers available?

Yes, at the "DUSCH & WC CAMP"
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:
What is the weather generally like?

Warm, lots of sunshine. Rain is rare. It's a good idea to have something to protect you from the dust
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:
Are there lockers?

Probably at the "Volume Win & Chill Area" according to the map. And at the tent hotel (if you are staying there), since they're selling tickets for that
Littlemissbiitchface hat geschrieben:

Not very different from any other festivals. You can get barbecue stuff at the Hofer Grill & Chill area which is very cheap compared to the other food at the festival

Thank you so much for this information, it is so nice to see it all in one place, nice and simple. Really helped me feel more at ease.

Hopefully I asked the questions others needed answers for! Grilling area's sounds amazing! Much nicer than my little camping cubes.

Yes indeed, thank you for all the info, put my mind at rest on a lot of things (even if some pretty obvious, its a festival! ;) )

Perhaps this should be a stickied FAQ?

Cooking:
There was a "Chill & Grill Area" the last years, where you could buy food and use a grill.

Camping alone:
No risk, no problem.

Shopping:
Remember: NO GLASS BOTTLES!

Toilets:
Portable toilets on the camping site, water toilets at the shower area and in the main area.

Food:
Food stalls everywhere.
Price: Festival - Expensive
Fresh food to grill at the chill and grill festival.

Money:
Remember: NO CASH, ONLY CASHLESS (with the Nova Rock Cashless Cards)
I always calculate with around 100€/per day, but that's only me...
You can get away MUCH cheaper than that.

Actually, many of the questions/answers can already be found in the FAQs :p

Oh I did not know about the cashless cards? Where do I get one of those? The website doesn't seem to translate too well for me :')

You can get the cashless cards directly at the festival. Basically, they are pre-paid cards, that can be recharged.
Also, there were three different card colors (yellow, silver and bleck), depending on the amount of cash you load onto it the first time

If you pre-order (and pay in advance) in the online shop (closed at the moment), you can pick it up using the fast lane.

There are a few charging stations all around the festival area, where you can recharge your card (via cash or bank card)

Edit: took out "recharge via credit card", as this is not possible.
